I am sure you were an excellent ambassador while in Panama.
I am not sure how much information is appropriate to give when dealing with someone who is deliberately breaking with the nation for which they serve as unofficial ambassador in pursuing their own ad hoc foreign policy at odds with 40+ year old national policy.
Mr. Carter, as former President is entitled to briefings as a matter of courtesy and I assume law, but I think the current Chief Exexcutive probably does have a certain amount of leeway he or she should excercise in determining the nature of that briefing.
As for the current tempest regarding that briefing, I think that is less an evidence of error than a response of a spoiled oligarchic media that has far too much time on its hand.
The intelligence game, as you know better than me, is a tough one full of hard choices and errors seen only in hindsight.
Whether or not this was a real error or a part of a larger game to prtect naitonal interests, I will wait and see.
