The Arabs living in the area are Palestinians, just like people living in Italy are Italian.
In 1948, Palestinians owned under title the vast majority of the land that Israel now sits on.
You may well be correct on this though:
It may well take an all out war to reconcile the disparate world views conflicting in the area.
