First off, while Israel's nuclear weapons assure its status, its legitimacy comes from the UN declaration of 1948.

Israel could enter into negotiations with the UN and UN member nations and seek this protection. Israel would get it.

My final question to you is, will the Palestinian people have to acquire nuclear weapons before their right to a state is recognized as well? With the spread of the technologies of weapons of mass destruction, this question is not merely hypothetical.
