The Israelis have destroyed the Palestinian leadership, then complain they don't lead. The Israelis have torn out the tree and Bush expects them to produce a bushel of apples.

And how can the attacks stop as long as the Israelis keep building settlements? Do those permanent occupations count as "incursions"? Even Bush says the Israelis have to get out of there. Why not now? Why not start, to give the Palestinian leadership a club to hammer their own extremists? Right now all any fledgling leadership would have is to cave.

But, that's another subject.

So, where's the will? And where's the way? The Israelis have created the will to resist, and destroyed the way to negotiate. And the US is beating up the Palestinians because they don't have an infrastructure left.

An analogy. The Mexicans are building settlements in Arizona. These are protected by the Mexican Army. What would you do?

Let's say you have a kid. Wants to go to college. Heads off to England. That kid will never be allowed to return. Once he's crossed the borders, he can't go home. Would that bother you? Sure it would.
