I don't think Israel has ever asked for UN help once - as this would conflict with the goal of some Israelis for a greater Israel including the West Bank.

I have to caution you about the use of the word Palestinians, and asscribing the desires of some Palestinians to all Palestinians. No question that this situation is deteriorating, and no questino that many Palestinians have abandoned hope of any peace agreement, or that others objected to it in the first place -

but it is US policy, and has been since 1948.
