Trump is an idiot, at least in politics. Keep in mind the mainstream media essentially is the party organ for the Democrats. In general, anybody they're pushing forward right now is somebody they think Obama can beat. Anybody they're trying to destroy is someone they think can win. They would love to see either a loon like Trump or a vanilla pudding "moderate" get the nomination. Or best of all possible worlds, run as a third party so the Democrats can pull another Perot save.

If you think standing up for specific political principles instead of swaying with every breeze makes one unelectable, remember the elections of 1980, 1984, 1994, and 2010.

After the primaries, anybody the Republicans run against Obama the media will destroy. Anybody. So picking favorites right now is kind of a moot point. It's 18 months until the election. At this point in 2007, who were the frontrunners in either party?

Also, watch carefully at what is being defined as "extreme." Things like reducing spending and entitlement reform. Nationalizing health care? "Moderate."
