Re: A serious question regarding torture

Torture of a suspect violates all sorts of conventions treaties and resolutions.

The US is never knowingly is asking for a suspect to be tortured during questioning.

The US realizes that some nations get better results than others and when a suspect speaks a foreign tongue, our resources for being able to communicate and persuade are limited.

I don't think it is necessary to torture this ringleader - because once a person realizes there is no escape they either become fatalistic or cooperative.

He will also wonder who betrayed him and what we already know.

We wont torture him - that is certain.

I'm not going to lose sleep worrying about it. Each person attracts feedback from their own actions. Justice, no matter what we may do, will ultimately be served. The USA bagging this guy already sends a huge signal to Al Qaeda operatives all over - that no one is going to be able to run for long, no matter what their position. This discourages the lesser fanatics from joining up. This then leaves the suicidal fanatics and suicidal fantics are "1 hit wonders."

My worries extend to how Saddam knew our troops were not going to be able to stage from Turkey, and preceded the vote with a southern movement of men and armor.
