Minions of war

You're absolutely right Davin!
But I think the descriptive language you are employing is perhaps a little too unsettling for the chickenhawks on this board.
No, they don't want to accept the carnage that will occur, as long as Sadam is taken out of power. And they'll sanitize the news here in the US....we won't be able to SEE what's happening "up close and personal".
(More Timothy McVeigh's coming home.....just a little pissed about the "collateral damage?")

It's a cake walk.......getting thousands of Iraqis to suffer and die, so that the next generation of Iraqis can be born poorer, with more birth defects, and struggling to regain a country and an identity they once had.
Oh, and I doubt they'll get Hussein.
Like Bin Laden, he will simply disappear into the night.
(Where's Schwartzkopf when you need him?)

No, to them this "war" is necessary.
And if Bush gets his way, if this "war" is somewhat "successful", he will move on to the other evil countries on his list while he still has the support (or the money, at least) of the American people.
Why, it's it's his idea of international ethnic and religious cleansing.
Better to get the job done while he's still in power.
But, we don't have to worry about HIS soul, or the thousands soon to be killed or who will suffer from this carnage. He prays to his God that he doing the right thing.
And of course, we know some people in our nation are sending their prayers towards he and Laura and his family and to that he is eternally grateful to us.

And SDAI... you said:
>"They are EAGER to surrender - does that sound like folks who love Saddam and don't want US intervention?"

Although many Iraqis will do ANYTHING to saves their LIVES now, and although the removal of Hussein may SEEM necessary, will all the carnage be worth it?
You see, if no WMD are found, the US will look very bad for all the destruction and death.
And if Hussein has them, he WILL use them.
On anyone.
Our military.
And the oil wells burning will make it hell on earth again.

Oh, there will be plenty of questions asked. But, with ALL our armed forces out there ready for the battle zone, there will be plenty of different mind sets to deal with when they come back home. Much worse than Vietnam.
Will they be honored?

I fear that this strike could get out of hand.
Up until this day, the planet has been relatively peaceful the past few decades.
Dr./Reverend Bush is about to upset and change the balance of co-existence on this planet with unknown consequences. And he feels "delivered" to do it.
I don't doubt history books will decide he was a despot, up there with all the mass murderers in our recent history.

I may be wrong, and I hope I am.......but I feel as though we could be moving into an international shoot 'em up conflict, with one crisis following another. With plenty of threats against us to stop, and each crisis leading to another bullish stance requiring more firepower and US arrogance. Bush will just continue on his merry way like he has been doing since Day 1.
