Thanks for that. I have to agree, sadly. Contrary to TB's post below, it hasn't been a matter of stifling or driving out the "few saviours," but rather one of being sold out by those very same economic musclemen that the right kneels before. They've sold America out because there was profit in doing so. They've shipped jobs, then factories, and now whole industries overseas, betraying an American workforce toward which, it turns out, they never had any loyalty at all. But in the end, did they cause the decline or merely hasten it? Who can say, and does it really matter at this point?
Years ago, my sister sounded me out about sponsoring her emmigration from Canada to the US. I would, of course, if she really wanted me to, but my best advice to her was to stay put. I couldn't--and still can't--shake the sense that overall, things in this country are winding down. At least I spared her having to deal with the downturn, which was far less severe in Canada, where the government prevents the financial sector from using society as its playground.
