John Galt never existed. They had to make him up.
Yeah, "saviors". TB is so hung up with all that adolescent Atlas Shrugged crap that he quotes writers of juvenile science fiction and lurid corporate potboilers as political authorities. It's the usual Neitzchean ubermensch fantasy; that there are supermen out there who deserve to rule and are destined to lead because they are more ambitious and work harder and are just plain more noble, through sheer WILL, and the rest of us should just shut up and be happy we are allowed to fetch their water and hew their firewood. And of course, you can see which category he places himself in.
It's classic fascism, pure and simple; with all its narcissism and paranoia, except it is not based on racist fantasies like the Nazis, or pseudo-science like the Bolsheviks. The Master Race, the March of History, the Captain of Industry, the noble businessman, spreading enlightenment and prosperity in their wake, it's all the same bullshit. "We are better than you and we deserve to rule because of our intrinsic righteousness." And any who question that are vermin. And of course, when their petty little lives wind up just as ordinary and impoverished as the rest of us, they need to blame it on somebody.
