Me, I'm waiting to see who gets the reconstruction contracts for the rebuilding of Iraq.
Will any British companies be on the list, she asked archly? Any Australians? Will (heaven forbid!) any German or French firms? Czech? Spanish?
Will contracts go to the highest quality, the lowest bidder, or the best connected to the Administration? Will the Iraqi people through their designated representative have anything to say?
I will allow that the Marines are not fighting for oil.
Nevertheless, the revenues for reconstruction will likely come from oil sales.
Who reaps that bounty?
