It was war commentary. I have many disagreements with Bush on Domestic Issues. I agree with your comments except that Bush's tax cuts are more responsible for deficits than his plans to increase spending. I thought the Dems were pushing most of the increases outside of defense with lesser but significant help from congressional republican pork pushers. And of course Bush is way off base on global warming.

By the way Polls show Bush STRONG Approval rating up to 54%. I'm pretty sure that was an overall approval rating not just on the war. One commentator said it seemed people appreciated him taking strong strands even if unpopular as opposed to the wind following Clinton. On the plus side it's good when the situation demands political courage as it does now. Clinton was the right weasel for the times in the nineties bowing to public pressures that helped keep the economy on a steady keel and the budget in black.
