The Upper Middle Class Is Still MC

The rich would pay more even with a flat tax because they earn more. By siting the upper 50% rather than the upper 10%, 5%, and 1% numbers where the percentage of income gets way out of whack you manipulate the numbers just as the Republican leadership does. Even a $200,000 family income is still middle class to a lot of people and certainly few would consider $100,000 out of the middle class. The range from the median to the top 80% does pay a large share of taxes. These are the people that would stimulate the economy with an income tax, not the extremely wealthy who would be the primary beneficiaries of a dividend tax cut. Its most of us here. I don't want a tax cut period. But if there's going to be one it should be a true near term stimulous. Don't you guys even know dividends are payed quarterly at best and frequently annually? You've got a delay in the incentive followed by a delay in choosing investments, followed by a delay in companies using the money to invest in equipment as opposed to increased monthly paychecks going directly to goods and companies running at higher capacity to repleat stocks on shelves. Speeding up production promptly is what is needed to stimulate a recovery.

Mark
