You misunderstood my point a bit.
If there was no dividend cut within a hundred miles of this proposal, the Democrats would STILL be against it tooth and nail.
What I said is that any and all across-the-board tax cuts have been opposed by the Democrats, and that their "targeted" alternatives don't put any real money into the private sector.
And deficits have nothing to do with it either. Democrats still opposed across-the-board tax cuts when surpluses were expected for many years.
It's plain old class warfare, and trying to dress it up as economics isn't fooling anyone.
Anyone who would sacrifice his families welfare by donating a tax cut so others can enjoy the benefit of poor fiscal planning would be stupid.
You don't like the idea of paying more so someone else can pay less? Guess what? Neither do I.
I routinely pay many times the taxes of the average American taxpayer, for exactly the same government benefits he gets. Is this stupid too?
For the record, I still support dividend cuts. Why returning money to middle class people is supposed to stimulate the economy while returning money to the wealthy does not, is more than I can figure out.
The way I see it, is that a rich person has a right to what he earns same as anyone else. Of course, to those that believe someone having more than you are makes them a legitimate looting target, it's a different story.
