Heck, maybe no taxes as such SHOULD be paid. Maybe there are other ways to finance a government. Voluntary enforcement fees on contracts? Who knows? We went almost 140 years without any income taxes at all. For many years our government was financed on tariffs, but that has flaws too. A government restricted to its Constitutional duties would sure be a hell of a lot cheaper to run. Someday I may be ambitious enough to dive into the guts of the budget and find out just how much cheaper.
Any political type who discusses "fairness" in free market economics eventually pulls a gun out, since there is no other way to enforce the kind of "fairness" he has in mind. Eventually, you have a nation where almost everyone is equally poor...except the guys with the guns, who somehow tend to wind up in palaces.
I get the impression that you work for a very large company (you mentioned chemicals once), since you seem to have a lot of bitterness about corporations in general. You don't seem to know much about how they are run, judging from your questions.
Envy is a crappy motivator for an economic system. I've seen where that leads.
The concept that wealth belongs to those who earn it, and not to "society," is a hard one to get across. Ayn Rand got the point across, although somewhat theatrically, in "Atlas Shrugged." I wish I was better at explaining these things.
