Marcia, I'm not sure you did get it, when you make "baggage" synonymous with "garbage". What I mean is that if we mentally work in a time in the far future, we can engage in a hypothetical mental exercize that won't be held back by today's emotionally-charged debates over capitalism/free-enterprise versus...well, anything, judging by the willingness of its supporters to leap to its defense at the mere suggestion that there might be something beyond it....even centuries in the future beyond it.
Seems to me with communism/Marxism having fallen by the wayside, the only debate in today's world is over degrees of capitalism. Does it even need defending given its succes in today's world? What in the world is all this paranoid circling-the-wagons about?
