re: Who bought it?

“My point was that no one bought "liberating the Iraqis" as a justification for the war.”

I mean no disrespect here, but you’re wrong about this. I guess I have to take into account that you and I live in totally different areas of the country, political ideologies differ depending on what region you live in. If I’m not mistaken I thing you live in Washington State, Seattle area? If so, I can understand why you and your friends didn’t buy into the liberation thing it’s not considered Bush country up there. I live in the heart of Bush country; I’m talking about fanatical religious conservatives down here Bud. I listen to a lot of local talk radio and I hear what people are saying. WMD is no longer the main talking point anymore its now been diverted to the Iraqi people and the fact that we freed them from the evil Saddam. It’s blind allegiance to Bush for many down here and they’re grasping for anything positive that they can find to justify this thing.

Davin summed it up nicely here:

"I don't care if there were or were not WMD and I don't care if Bush was incompetent/dishonest/whatever, Saddam was bad and liberating the Iraqis was worth the bloodshed, alienation of allies and etc".

This is exactly the mindset down here. I guess instead of saying “Americans” I should have said “Many Americans” have bought into it. But, I think you knew what I meant.
