BTW, feel free to tally up the death toll from Christian fundamentalism in the 20th century, and pass it on. Be sure to include Christian fundamentalist governments (find any?) killing and imprisoning thousands of non-Christians for their religion, making Christianity the only legal religion of the nation, or blowing up Jewish and Muslim buildings.
Your very carefully qualified statement makes a comparison between a new philosophy -- Marxism is only a little over 100 years old -- and an older, more established one which has been absorbed and to an extent neutralized by the society it has governed.
A more accurate comparison would be with Christianity in its heyday, when the Emperor made it the state religion, when it too was young. And yes, there were all those things you listed above, in abundance, except they didn't blow up Jewish or Muslim buildings. No gunpowder.
This is why we have a First Amendment, not because it's nice to be tolerant.
If Marxism had 1,000 years to mellow out and be splintered into a thousand sects to dilute its extremism, it would be a much different thing than it is now.
