I bring this issue up continuously because Marxism and the collectivist philosophy of the Left are a problem right here and now in modern times. While I am sitting here, North Korea and Cuba are held in virtual slavery, and Cuba, at least, is enjoying the high regard of many in our cultural and educational elite. At the same time, the philosophy that created North Korea, the Khmer Rouge, and the Baath Socialists is still being strongly advocated where children are taught philosophy. I am amazed that I can't seem to get the importance of this across. I am even more amazed that the American Left seems to be constantly in terror that we will collapse into a Christian theocracy ruled by Ashcroft and the television preachers, but seems to have absolutely no fear of the influence of Marxism and socialism in our society. Nor do they seem bothered by the actual modern theocracies (Muslim) that threaten the West on many fronts. Go figure.

The Inquisition is not a current problem. Neither are the Crusades. If I had lived during those times, it would have been small comfort to the people being tortured or massacred to be told that in another thousand years, Christianity would mellow out into what it is today.

Let's try and focus on what's right in front of us right now.
