Space/Science » in reply to Histrorically It's When You Stopped Thinking

Right now, I'm simply awestuck...

by your moral vacuity - the best comparison I can think of is the fleeing one gets by looking at the Grand Canyon. By way of analogy, providing you with any data contrary to the focus of your fixation may be compared to throwing a pebble into it...

Once again, Mariner 4, first close images of Mars, end of work on manned Mars spacecraft. Next Mariner images of on Mars, end of production of manned Mars launchers, specifically Saturn 1 and Saturn 5. Next Mariner images of Mars, end of work on Mars nuclear propulsion system.

The new images of Mars have not changed public opinion, but merely intensified it. Support for rovers is high, but support for manned Mars flight falls with each new set of images from there.

Mars is simply not Earth-like. Live with it.

Mark, you have excatly 1, and I mean exactly 1, hope of keeping the manned space infrastruture intact after ISS, so that it may possibly used at that time for manned Mars flight, and that is by supporting the construction of man tended Moon based telescopes.
