Sure, a boss sometimes has to fire a guy for not doing his job, and hate certainly does not need to be involved.
You tell me what it means when the boss spends most of his time watching the employee like a hawk, being disappointed by the employee's successes, telling everyone what a screwup the employee is, including the boss's own competitors, and doing an end-zone dance in his office when he catches the employee in a mistake.
