They crucified him on "read my lips." Republicans rarely get rewarded for doing what Democrats want them to.
Revenues went up after Kennedy's tax cuts. Revenues went up after Reagan's tax cuts (spending went up faster, unfortunately). These are numerical facts.
It's too soon to judge any major trend on revenues based on the most recent tax cuts (signed May 28), but it's inarguable that the economy is heading upward. While there are certainly other factors besides the tax cuts responsible for that, you can be damn sure that if the economy was spiraling downwards, the Democrats would be blaming the tax cuts.
I firmly believe that a dollar remaining in the hands of an American citizen is more useful to the economy than that same dollar taken away and given to a politician. Other people feel the opposite. I guess it just depends on your point of view.
