The Point Of Our Government Is Not
To transfer wealth to a few people at the top, it is to provide an equitable system for everyone. Communism in theory is somewhat closer to our supposed ideals of fairness than capitalism although it seems to place little value on intellectual work or property. It is quite clear in practice however that it sucks and is highly prone to abuse. Part of the "democratic" value of capitalism is its looseness and natural response to the desires of the population. That doesn't mean there is no downside to capitalism or no way it can be abused. History is full of examples of the corrupting power of extreme wealth, massive inherited wealth, and abuses of the system.
