re: Yes, he is a moron . . .

. . . which is the main reason he did not get my vote.

However:

Reverse “Iraq and Afghanistan” and “America” and change the date to March, 2003. How does that read? International terrorists aren’t a bunch of guys who sat around drinking Coors and figured it would be cool to fly planes into the World Trade Center towers. They aren’t motivated by the fact that Americans have 600 cable TV channels and they just have Al Jazeera. There is a genuine belief that they are doing the right thing, the noble thing, the necessary thing. In my opinion and that of most westerners that belief is wrong, but bombing their homes isn’t going to make them change their minds.

The fighters are filtering into Iraq from Syria, Iran, and Saudi Arabia.

The flies cometh.

The Iraqis involved are mainly the Ba'athists, many of whom say they were disillusioned at Hussein's failure to face the invading forces. He still has many supporters, and they fight for him daily, but they do realize their futility.

And we're not blowing up random homes, LJ. The targets are meticulously selected, and the bad guys know it. And we are in their face, right where their war belongs. They’re falling daily, but more to handcuffs than bullets, and we are winning.

Now, how far would I go? All the way, and like as not be carried out in pieces -- if at all.

Then again, I could also pack up and leave, as one of the countless refugees, able to return to the fight another day.

I would have a clear choice.

Today, the choice between life and death in Iraq is not a "US-led" choice. It's pure Hussein & Co. they know where life resides. It’s in Iraq’s future.
