re: A shot for perspective . . .

. . . though I doubt it will take.

The fact that they are biding their time and picking their time to come out of the holes and kill us does not mean they are not there and growing in number.

"Of course it will decrease terrorism. That's the whole point."
-- Your analogy of others’ words, not mine, but:

I would hazard a guess that there are fewer alive today than 2 years ago and we are having something to say about where and when they come out.

"Of course the terrorists are coming out of the woodwork to attack us. It's all part of the plan."
-- Again, your analogy of others’ words, not mine.

The fact remains that to fight a war you must meet the enemy. To meet the enemy, you may need to flush them into striking range. It‘s not a nice job, but one that occasionally needs to happen. That the idiots choose to charge, ill-prepared, into a prepped, U.S.-controlled battlefield is an admittedly-serendipitous coup for the West, but one we would be foolish not to take full advantage of.

Yes, it does mean they were “hiding in the woodwork” and “biding their time.” We supplied a seemingly accessible target in our troops on the ground in the Middle East. They are coming, and it’s to be expected. And, yes, this does mean there are “thousands” fewer to fight us.

The West remains happy. They may argue this point as well, but that’s merely because there are no terrorists plotting attacks in the backyard adjacent to theirs.

We continue to win.

And I think a late salute should now go out to the nations of Syria and Iran, as well as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. They are, after all, in this War on Terrorism, as displayed by their unbridled release of indigents to Iraq for Coalition capture, detention, and possible loss of life.
