re: My points do too.
At least your tribe doesn't have gas chambers.
Saddam's tribe did, but I am given to understand that this truth has been ruled irrelevant to the discussion.
Our cause is just, the security of the nations we serve and the peace of the world. And our mission is clear, to disarm Iraq of weapons of mass destruction, to end Saddam Hussein's support for terrorism, and to free the Iraqi people.
- Bush in March of 2003, announcing the invasion.
Weapons of mass destruction:
Whether Saddam had stockpiles of weapons, or factories ready to roll them out, or plans to build them the second the U.N. turned its back, makes very little difference in the long run. As I have always said, his ambition to have them, his ability to build them, and his willingness to use them on civilians, were long ago proven. I don't let a pedophile teach kindergarten just because he hasn't molested anyone in a year.
If we had not fought the Gulf War, which the peace movement violently opposed, Saddam would now be sitting on fission bombs. We didn't fight that war to keep him from getting nuclear weapons, but that was the result.
Support for terrorism:
Saddam's support of terrorists is not the fantasy you insist it is. I have posted many links like this one, which seems to show it isn't as cut-and-dried as you say. And it's not like al-Qaeda is the only terror movement in the world. That Saddam is willing to attempt terror acts against the U.S. (never mind other countries) was also long ago proven, or maybe trying to kill a former President doesn't count.
Free the Iraqi people:
Ah, this is the one everyone likes to pretend was never one of the reasons for invasion. See first part of this post.
