I am uncomfortable with polls, unless I have access to the actual questions and answers. The methodology is also quite useful. Some of the polls of Iraqi citizens have provided both, so I felt that they were a valid input to the discussion. Also, they have done several polls to date, and the number of approximately 2/3 that are at least tolerant of our being there, and glad Saddam is gone, holds up across the board.
It is surprisingly hard to scrape up the raw data in most polls. I know from experience that it can take a long time to track down original data, and sometimes it is only available to paying customers. So the effect of the poll is normally felt only through articles in newspapers (they pay) where they are filtered through the mental kidneys of the writers. Considering the huge impact such polls can have, this is not an ideal situation.
