A recent NSS poll (2002 or 2003) clearly showed the members interest in Mars yet the accompanying editorial notes by an intern or co-op indicated this somehow supported the NSS moon first plan. There was nothing in the poll to clearly indicate a choice between Mars first or Moon first as there should have been to make such a claim. They simply tried to make the bogus link that support for Mars=support for Moon then Mars. I have been an NSS member for years and have seen nothing to justify this stance in member polls or adressing the delta V issue. The NSS is simply recommending a baby step approach that shows no boldness or understanding of why we have been stuck in LEO for years. My comments were based on NSS member opinion expressed in that poll not the current NSS administration's position.

Mark
