Barry, Mark and I are sincere in our interests. I may joke a lot as Mark can attest. But, I'm serious about humanity's needs and what I think will best move us to more maturity and beyond our current petty wars and greed. I don't think a return to the Moon is in the best interest of humanity. I'm pretty sure it will result in an other Apollo like Flags & Footprints few off missions and no base happening. And this won't get us to Mars in fact it will be used against the effort as Apollo is now used to obscure the field... BTW, I think a mission which last on the ground for over a year cannot be reasonably called "Flags and Footprints"...

Bush and his crew are mangling the economy with their incompetence and will (I hope) be replaced with someone at the top who averaged better than Cs during college. It's repairable and can be even better for all people the world over.

You don't understand politics if you don't see the influence hundreds of letters would have Barry. Few people participate that aggressively now days. Some AARP or environmental action maybe gets that many letters and of coarse many more into the thousands. The point is till we have tried what we can easily do. We will never know if that particular method works. Just saying oh it won't work is naive. I've spent time talking to assistances to congressmen and have sent letters and seen there influence.

Let me remind you, Barry all I want to do is explore Mars with Humans or robots who have our capacity to reason. Till we have done that I'm not inclined to do much thinking about colonizing Mars.
