Tom did not write the spoof.
The spoof failed becuz the former Prez would never have taken responsibility for anything like that. Not ever. In fact, that is what made the spoof so funny imho.
Pointing that out is not dragging clinton into anything.
He was already there, and a completely valid contrast was made.
