"Exercise for the student: try and find in the news any critical comments about Clinton from George Bush the First or Gerald Ford during the Clinton administration."

Hmmm... what are the options? (assuming the news reports you allude to are actually scarce)

1. GB1 and Ford were such nice guys that they didn't like to criticize anyone, including Clinton.

2. They had things to criticize and just didn't get around to it. Other things to do.

3. Until the Lewinsky stuff came to a head, there wasn't enough to criticize.

Sorry, teach, I guess I'm too lazy to bother looking up ancient news articles.
