Nope. Krugman has become the poster boy for the failed left and why the left enables tyrants like Saddam. First he declares the US economy dead just as it starts doing better. Now he declares that the irresolute people he speaks for are actually thoughtful patriots.
He is wrong on both accounts.
He and the left enables the terrorists in Iraq by making them think that if they behave badly enough we will understand their pain and cause and leave, like we did in Vietnam. He and the left is wrong to do this. It kills Americans and Iraqis in numbers that would be disgusting to anyone who cares.
Krugman's pose is why the UN and the IRC and other NGOs chose to shun decent security...the thinking that what we are doing in Iraq is somehow illegitimate and that if they just show they are *not* US the terrorists will leave them alone. They, like Krugman and those who agree with him are willfully ignorant to say the least.
The only path to peace in Iraq is the one that includes us accomplishing our mission: crushing out the baathist and international terrorists and allowing Iraqis of good will to build a civil society.
