It's a shame that the conservatives here are determinedly ignoring you, Don, because this report is worth some discussion. I too would like to see if they'll be as quick to denounce their "fair and balanced" network as they are to denounce the NYT and CNN.
Not only does the official statement from the DOD deny the way Fox portrayed report, it concludes
Individuals who leak or purport to leak classified information are doing serious harm to national security; such activity is deplorable and may be illegal.
Cripes! indeed. And the DOD isn't exaggerating: The Fox report makes no bones about calling it a "secret memo" and identifying it: "The memo was sent to Sens. Pat Roberts (R-Kan.) and Jay Rockefeller (D-W.Va.) of the Senate Intelligence Committee". They use selective quotes to misrepresent what the report says, but the Pentagon is clear that those quotes come from the memo's "classified annex".
But does anybody really think that Faux News, the Administration's mass-media mouthpiece, will ever be held accountable for obtaining and leaking--and misrepresenting--classified information? I'm not holding my breath.
