No argument from me

I will gladly admit to the fact that most of the items I post have been pointed out by bloggers, BBS sites, or other news sites. Generally, I credit only the original source of the item, and not the site that flagged me. Don't know if that's cricket or not. I only wish I had time to pore through fifty newspapers and dozens of news sites to find all this stuff on my own. That's the beauty of the internet.

Although this raises the sobering thought that I could easily be replaced as a source of items by a permanent list of about twenty links stuck on the side of the Zone.

As for directly engaging the source of an opinion, how often is that possible? It's not like I can pull Thomas Sowell or Andrew Sullivan personally onto this site like Woody Allen pulling Marshall McLuhan out from behind a movie poster. I have debated Sullivan via e-mail on past occasions.

One thing I do accomplish with links is to make original sources available, something which an astonishing number of news outlets fail to do. How many stories on Kay's report included a direct link back to the report itself?
