Manned exploration has done nothing for unmanned exploration since Apollo

Even if manned space gets canned (not necessarily a bad thing), the unmanned program will do just fine or even be better off.

Anyway, private manned space programs will succeed within 10 years, possibly sooner, so people will still imagine a short-term connection between unmanned exploration and human footprints.
