Platypi, or platypuses.

There is no such thing as a platypus. Those were invented to boost tourism in remote parts of Australia, when it was populated by English social rejects and no one wanted to go there.

The North American analogue is the "jackalope", an antelope and jackrabbit cross designed to sell postcards to tourists who had temporarily taken leave of their senses and wallets.

(There is no such thing as a "water ouzel", either. That is a Native American myth created by smokers of the "peace" pipe. When one started to see "water ouzels", they were cut off as having had enough of the "peace" offered by the pipe.)

The quote about the hunger for truth is true, except that when one finds it sometimes it's a lousy meal, and then the hunger is sated but there is a foul taste in the mouth. Sorta like eating a jackalope or water ouzel or platypus. And they aren't filling, as it's an imaginary meal.

But the potatoes and salad which goes with them can be real.

Flat boggles the mind on a Sunday morning.
