re: You may laugh if you wish but "truth" sometimes turns out to be stranger than "fiction".
"I have read somewhere that there are old Sanskrit writings about how the stones of the pyramids were moved to the construction site, they do not tell of long ropes and thousands of slaves, but you would not believe such stories because it would involve the understanding of such phenomenon as transverse and longitudinal vibrations in synchronized resonance within the material being moved. "
Okay. Right. Whatever. Why don't you post those learned sources here for us to laugh a.... I mean inspect...
Davin L.
I wish that I could remember what book or magazine the information was in, I'd like to reread it to see if my memory is serving me correctly on the details.
The story was that the Sanskrit writings explained that there were only a maximum of six people that were needed to move each of the stone blocks. The method was to unroll a wide papyrus sheet on the ground, laid in the direction of the intended motion of the stone block. The papyrus sheet contained some special markings that were important in the movement of the stone block. Once the papyrus was placed and properly secured on the ground the people (high priests) would take positions at the corners and the middle of the block, each one held a special "rod" in their hand and when they struck the block of stone with the rods, and "made music", the stone block would move along on the papyrus "the distance of a bow shot".
Impossible: That's what I thought when I read the story, but then, I was young and did not understand the physics behind resonating vibrations.
In order to understand how vibrations can make a block of stone move, you must first understand how transverse and longitudinal waves propagate in the medium that you want to move, then you must understand some laws of physics such as; the energy of a particle executing simple harmonic motion is proportional to the square of the amplitude and to the square of the frequency. Then you must understand resonance and the principle of superposition. Then you must know how and where the destructive and constructive interference must be generated and how to control their amplitude and position within the material. Once you understand how and why the vibrations can move the stone block, then you need the equipment to generate and control the vibrations.
If the pyramid builders used this method of moving the stones, then they knew much more about the physics of materials and the control of their fundamental vibrational frequencies than we do today.
I do not expect you to understand the up/forward/down/backwad/sideways/cycling/synchronized and controlled motion of the material surface, especially if you have not studied the laws of physics involved in the vibration of materials.
That you do not understand the underlying physics, does not mean that the laws of nature which can be used to control the phenomenon have ceased to exist.
If you give me the resources, I'll gladly show you how it is done.
