Or it could have little to do with the bombing. It could be that both sides of the GreatIraqSchism are trying to make political capital out of this issue by claiming either
1. That this is a 'caving' to the evil terrorists by EuroWeasles(tm 2003 Bush administration)
2. (Or)That being voted out is the justice delivered to those who supported the war
Right or wrong WRT your(collective) perspectives rooted in Iraq(yes, there is such a thing), this particular Gov't did act in ways over the last year that were rejected by the voting populace- up to 90% of them by some measure opposed supporting the Iraqi war.
Such a gamble by the powers that be could understandably lead to a large loss if things went poorly in this conflict- such as the failure to find WMD or terrorist links... This particular gov't was also expected to lose in this election before the bombing.
Voter turnout was up to 10% higher than projected before the bombing-
but (hold on, conservative BushBobbleheads here at the zone! this might shock and amaze you) the ROW might be tempted to blame the sitting political leadership for the successful prosecution of a major act of terrorism on their soil. I know, I know- for some of you thats a shocking notion! So there might be a fresh urge to vote-out the folks who could not keep them safe (I know, I know- it soo much more satisfying to go attack an unrelated third-world nation such as Iraq, but...)
So maybe its not spain accepting terrorists or rejecting bush, but booting a gov't that was unresponsive to the electorate and also (seen as) ineffective at protecting the electorate from the BigBadWolf...
Spain is also not doing very hot economically...
