You already flunked the same test. And you're both, apparently, in the same box. Intellectually dishonest. The ebnelson box. Using the same unseemly language, too.

When you erroneously call someone dishonest, when that is pointed out, and you fail to correct the situation, that's a serious intellectual lapse. A measure of questionable moral character.

In polite company it's inexcusable. In academic circles it's inexcusable.

Conversely, correcting the mistakes is generally regarded the mark of a strong person, a reasonable person, an honorable person.

Hell, from my point of view, the two of you losing my respect is your loss. Not mine. The apologies would have been for your sakes, not mine.

(I cannot remember slamming anyone this hard. And I realize neither they nor many others will "get" what I said.)
