Universal morals, input requested

If we were to meet an alien race, would we have some ethical common ground? ALL of our moral rules result from some kind of evolution... some biological evolution, many, if not most due to social evolution...

Self preservation is a law that will hold in general for all species resulting from evolution... however we have people willing, even eager to die, for an idea in our own species so even that law cant hold 100%

what common ground would we be able to build off of with a totally alien intelligence?
