I think Lindy is absolutely right.
She's turned an interesting phrase: bigger and better violence.
How long have we been seeking to solve problems with bigger and better violence? Since the first proto-human picked up a rock and clubbed another one over the head? What has it ever bought us except short-term gain for long-term pain?
Violence is a very, very poor investment. It's a path to failure.
I'm convinced now that all we're really accomplishing in Iraq is creating a hotbed of hatred for America. Whatever regime we leave in place there will probably be both despised and corrupt, and our grand experiment in forced democratization will be a complete bust.
Bigger and better violence. We'll wade into Fallujah with our high-tech death machines and end up creating an Iraq that hates America with a passion and a fury that outstrips anything they ever felt toward Sadaam.
