This isn't good verses evil and there have been plenty of terrible things done by both sides, but the Israelis do not make women and children the specific targets of their attacks. The Palestinians do. If the Palestinians didn't kill women and children DELIBERATELY they would have had a state years ago.

Sharon is no friend to the peace process but his views have evolved in the last decade. There was a time he advocated expelling the entire Palestinian population on the West Bank, the way the Ruskies pushed everyone over at the end of WWII. Today he realizes that is impossible and actually is willing to give the Palestinians statehood, albeit on his terms, thus the wall currently being finished. Arafat on the other hand has never changed his view on Israel.
