Sudden concern over prisons in Iraq
One interesting outcome of the controversy about American treatment of prisoners in Iraq:
Finally, a year after Saddam is gone, it's suddenly become of critical importance around the world how inmates in Iraqi prisons are treated. Never seemed to bother anyone before--in fact any justification of the invasion based on such things was sneered at.
I'd bet a lot of Saddam's prisoners--or some Americans captured by Iraqis in the past year--would have wished that the worst thing that happened to them was being stripped naked and forced into humiliating poses.
Still waiting for the first brain-damage case to say something along the lines of "this shows we're no better than Saddam."
