However, some conservatives think that news should be censored and politicians be allowed to operate in secrecy.
Why, you might ask? Well, not you, but others.
Why, others might ask? Because the citizenry might factor that information into their votes.
It's all politics, the conservatives say. It's all just to embarrass the politicians, and therefore shouldn't be brought into the open.
Kill the messengers. Now, preferably before they talk. Reality isn't the issue, reality isn't "real" if only a few know, now is it?
