Very true, McFly. Look at how they treat space exploration. What we are seeing on Mars today would have been unbelievable many years ago, but the media is bored with it. They don’t understand the science.
They want action. They’ll gleefully report when a mission goes wrong and then show people complaining on how NASA’s budget should go to feeding the homeless.
They’ll jump NASA’s butt when a probe doesn’t work, but you’ll hear very little of the successes from a mission like Spirit’s and Opportunity.
Would it kill them to get some interest in science, and maybe energizing the public on science?
The media is all about ratings. Thank goodness for the internet on keeping us informed. In the pre-internet days, I got all my science from magazines like National Geographic and Astronomy. Or from books.

It is a business decision. Look at how they report NASA stories.
