I would just like to see the media do something--just once--other than cut our military off at the knees. If they think this is the best way to bring Bush down, I wish to hell they'd think of something else. This is going to cost us too much.
While many media people make a lot of pious noises about how they support America and the troops, their selection of what to print, how to present it, what to spike, and other such decisions appear to be indistinguishable from what they would be if they were actually being paid to sabotage us.
If a Greenpeace member spends his summers clubbing baby seals, all the protestations about how he loves animals don't mean a hell of a lot.
All I want to see is some balance. I know that the constant drumbeat of failure being presented isn't the whole story, but I have to dig to find the rest. It doesn't show up where Americans will see it every day. I show some of it here, but what kind of circulation do I get compared to Dan Rather or Ted Koppel?
This isn't about Iraq. While everyone has tried to sweep this fact under the rug, the media was pulling the same crap in Afghanistan, before we ever went into Iraq. Every bit of bad news magnified, every victory or bit of progress ignored. Failure, quagmire, and the depiction of America as murderous bastards.
We are at war. When was the last time you heard about our military completing a successful mission? Achieving any kind of victory? I've seen the press releases from the military. It happens. All the time. But never in the mainstream media.
Do a news search. Try and find the last time the word "victory" has been used in regards to the American military.
