Rumsfeld gave up the Geneva Convention for a reason.

Troops weren't trained in the Geneva Convention for a reason.
The Geneva convention wasn't posted in the area for a reason.

What might that reason be if not to encourage/allow/foster abuse of prisoners?

Seriously. Is there any other reason the US would have given up the Geneva Convention?
