"9/11 panel sees no link between Iraq, al-Qaida"

"At a news conference Tuesday, Bush defended Vice President Dick Cheney's assertion that Saddam had "long-established ties" with al-Qaida, an assertion that has been repeatedly challenged by some policy experts and lawmakers."

Drives a stake through the heart of another ostensible reason for this "war", doesn't it! And they knew all this at the time.

But once they tell a lie this big they have to stay with it. Understandable, if not excuseable.
