re: "9/11 panel sees no link between Iraq, al-Qaida"

Well, we can chalk one up for Saddam and one for al Qaida.

Although Osama bin Laden asked for help from Iraq in the mid-1990s, Saddam's government never responded, according to a report by the commission staff based on interviews with government intelligence and law enforcement officials.

I imagine Saddam will use this 911 panel conclusion in his defense when he goes to trial. Maybe he will able to subpoena members of the 911 panel. I mean it shows good character not dealing with Qaida and Osama. Must have showed real restrain on Saddam, shinning Osama on and not talking back to him with some kind of I have more power than you verbal garbage get your own life.

There are some good things that came out of the commission like:

Al-Qaida is actively trying to replicate the destruction of that day, the report said, though the terrorist network has been weakened by losing its sanctuary in Afghanistan and many leaders to U.S. strikes and arrests. The terror organization also is trying to obtain a nuclear weapon and is ''extremely interested'' in chemical, radiological and biological attacks, including the use of anthrax, it said.

I guess they won't be getting them from Saddam now.
Wonder who al Qaida is not working with now trying to obtain these WMD? Iran? It's not Libya, I know that one.
