in one city within one state. I'm sure there are many such hospitals out there for more common illnesses. As for having a place to stay, both hospitals are teamed up with Ronald McDonald House Charities (another fine cause to support) which provides a home away from home for the families of children undergoing treatment.
I do agree that something needs to be done about rising healthcare costs, but I'm concerned that increased government intervention may be partly to blame for the increases. It seems like the costs of everything government touches explodes. How is it that my dog can have laser surgury to remove an ovarian cyst for only $500 ( which included a house call by the vet to make sure she was doing alright as well as pain medication) but the same surgery for a person would cost far far more? To find the true causes, I suspect you'd have to look into the insurance, legal, and government bureaucracies overseeing the medical field to find the true culprits.
